Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze and other state officials visited the Imereti region on September 21 to get acquainted with the implementation of the project "Construction of a water supply system in the city of Chiatura."
The contractor of the project is the Georgian representative office of Akkord STIK OJSC.
Director of Akkord Georgia Mazahir Abdullayev, project coordinator Elnur Mahmudov and project manager Chagatay Karabuga briefed the Prime Minister on the work done within the project.
G.Gakharia is closely acquainted with water distribution networks, water reservoirs, chlorination building, pumping stations, artesian wells, modern SCADA system (computer control of the whole system), and AMR water meter system (remotely readable water meters) was built under the project.
The Prime Minister was informed about the measures taken by the company during the pandemic, the steps taken to ensure the safety of workers, and clarified the issues of interest to the delegation.
The Prime Minister and other members of the delegation praised the work done and wished success to the company's management and employees.
It was noted that 250 people were involved in the project, 80 percent of whom are Georgian citizens.
Construction work began on October 23, 2017. During the past period, a 107-kilometer-long water distribution network was laid, 2 new reservoirs were built, 7 reservoirs and 1 pumping station were reconstructed.
In addition, 3 new pumping stations, 1 chlorination building, and a system were built, 7 artesian wells were drilled.
At the same time, 8,800 subscribers were provided with AMR modular water meters, and a modern SCADA system was installed.
In total, more than 20,000 people in Chiatura and Navardzeti were provided with a 24-hour uninterrupted water supply.
